Corpus de chirographes de la ville de Douai

The development of Picard characteristics between the 13th and the 15th century is a topic that has never been specifically studied and analyzed. To that end, Stéphanie Brazeau and Serge Lusignan have constructed a corpus containing a cross section of chirographs  from the city of Douai, dating from 1223 to 1500. Some of the documents were taken from Georges Espinas (II), La vie urbaine à Douai au Moyen Âge, t. III-IV, Pièces justificatives, XIe-XIIIe siècles, Paris, 1913, and the others were transcribed in the municipal archives of Douai. We included one document for every 3 to 5 years. This corpus will be the basis for an analysis of all Picard features contained in each document and their development.
